Centrale forskningsprojekter
Key Research Projects
CHAMPS-DK is a school-based cohort study with 1,670 participating children and young people, who were followed on a weekly basis for more than five years. The study has generated more than 20 doctoral dissertations, more than 100 bachelor’s and master’s theses and over 90 publications in international, peer-reviewed journals
The European Youth Heart Study (EYHS) is an international, mixed longitudinal study with more than 5,000 participating children and young people across up to three rounds of data collection. Participating countries include Portugal, Estonia, Norway, Iceland, and Denmark. The study maps cardiovascular risk factors and health behaviours in childhood and adolescence across European populations.
Physical Activity in Children with Congenital Chronic Conditions
A new research direction involves planned investigations of physical activity and health in children with congenital chronic conditions that present daily challenges. The initial focus will be on Hirschsprung’s disease, Anorectal malformation and Teratomas.
The aim is to determine how these conditions affect children’s levels of physical activity, physical fitness, and mental health.
National and international Collaborations
Niels Wedderkopp collaborate with researchers from a number of countries, including: Amsterdam, the Netherlands, Portugal, England, Norway, Spain, Canada and Australia.
