About CAKS
Center for Rare and Complex Diseases (CAKS) at Odense University Hospital coordinates the cross-disciplinary process programs for rare, hereditary and complex diseases.
CAKS’ purpose is to offer process programs to patients with rare, hereditary and complex diseases where there is a need for coordination of the patient process. The process programs are developed with the involvement of the expertise of all relevant hospital specialties.
The CAKS administration is located at the Department of Clinical Genetics.
CAKS’ tasks
The center's tasks are carried out in close collaboration with clinical and paraclinical departments at OUH:
- Establishment of coordinated process programs and assignment of the primary responsible department and physician
- Assignment of physicians responsible for diseases under CAKS
- Ensuring the transition process
- Ensuring genetic testing and counseling
- Conducting multidisciplinary team meetings/program management meetings.
